Masterpiece Cake Artist Jack Phillips Went to the Supreme Court Yesterday

And now what?

Masterpiece Theater: SCOTUS Debates Cake Baker's Rights

Here's what Jack said outside the courthouse following the 90 minute hearing:
Outside the Supreme Court, Jack explained, "Though I serve everyone who comes into my shop, like many other creative professionals, I don't create custom designs for events or messages that conflict with my conscience... I am here at the Supreme Court today because I respectfully declined to create a custom cake that would celebrate a view of marriage in direct conflict with my faith's core teachings on marriage. I offered to sell the two gentlemen suing me anything else in my shop or to design a cake for them for another occasion." It's hard to believe, he went on, "that the government is forcing me to choose between providing for my family and employees and violating my relationship with God. That is not freedom. That is not tolerance."
Amen! But we'll see whether these black-robes by their decision resemble more the white-robed KKK in their decision by their persecution of Christians, the black-robed specter of death (as in the death of free speech) or the black robed missionaries who were willing to risk everything, even death, to preach the truth.

Keep an eye on this because it affects everyone. If Christian bakers can be forced to make cakes for same-sex weddings and Christian florists can be forced to provide the flowers, and Christian wedding photographers can be forced to take the pictures then why can't Jewish bakers be forced to make cakes with swastikas on them or builders be forced to build abortion mills, or Christian drug stores be forced to sell abortifacient drugs, or OB/GYNs and nurses be forced to perform or participate in abortions and sterilizations?

Pray for the outcome of the Supreme Court decision. We are rapidly losing our religious freedom and even our freedom to disagree with what is politically correct without being vilified and attacked. Remember Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown? Who hasn't, right? In fact, we heard about them over and over and over for weeks on end.

Ever hear of Brian Ogle? Probably not. the 17-year-old high school student was viciously beaten by four former students after a high school football game for posting a pro-police statement on his Facebook profile? But Brian is white and the four Black Lives Matter thugs are a protected group. So the national media ignored him and the thugs, instead of being charged with attempted murder for nearly killing the teen, were given assault charges instead. How many friends of Brian will be afraid to post politically incorrect statement on Facebook after what happened to him? There's more than one way to kill free speech.

So pray for Jack and his lawyers and for the wisdom of SCOTUS. The decision will probably come down next summer. Let's pray it's good news for freedom when it comes down.
